Recap: Intro to Git & GitHub Workshop Spring 2026

Our Git & GitHub workshop welcomed 85 students across CS, SE, and AI programs. The session covered repositories, commits, branches, pull requests, and resolving merge conflicts — skills every developer needs from day one.

Attendees paired up to contribute to a sample open-source README, simulating real team workflows. Many students created their first GitHub profile and pinned a project during the lab hour.

Feedback highlighted the live demo of forking, branching, and opening a PR as the most valuable segment. We also shared resources for GitHub Student Developer Pack benefits.
